Health insurance requirement to enter the country has been eliminated

Foreigner visitors coming to Ecuador will not need a health insurance according to the Organic Law for Productive Development, Investment Attraction, Job Creation and Stability and Tax Balance coming into force this Tuesday, after its publication within the Official Register.

Numeral 1from article 44, repeals the section fifth from article 56 of the Organic Law of Human Mobility which states the requirement of the health insurance for tourist immigration status to enter Ecuador mainland.

This measure has been driven by the Minister of Tourism, Enrique Ponce De Leon and supported by the President of the Republic, Lenin Moreno Garces. This disposition aims to maintain country´s touristic competitiveness to avoid an increase of expenses for visitors coming to Ecuador and encouraging receptive tourism.
