Yesterday afternoon it was able to register a continuous water vapor and ash emissions that reached 300 meters above the crater level, in west direction. At night, using the thermal camera, a column of similar emission was visualized. At the time, the volcano sector remain cloudy, however with the Quito ECU 911’s camera located at the Teleferico (cable car), an emission of steam and low ash content with a height not exceeding 100 meters above the crater level, in west direction, can be observed.  In the early morning, a rain that didn’t generate lahars occurred. No ashfall reported.

Accommodation:

The Ministry of Tourism visited affected areas with staff of the Secretary of Risk Management, Geophysical Institute and Municipality of Mejia.

Establishments operating from 06:00 to 17:00: Los Mortiños, 4 volcanes Restaurant, Chilcabamba and Mauca Pedregal.

The Ministry of Environment authorizes Tambopaxi, located within the Cotopaxi National Park, remains closed as a precaution.
