Bulletin 01/09/2015 – Cotopaxi volcano situation

The Cotopaxi volcano keeps its internal activity levels similar to previous days . The area near the volcano dawned cloudy, and through satellite images, it was observed that during last night and early today ash moved west and northwest. A light ash fall was reported in Chaupi, Machachi and Aloasi.
Recommendations
The Ministry of Tourism advices tourists and tour operators to remain alert to guidelines and recommendations provided by the Ministry of Security Coordination.
Accommodation:
The Ministry of Tourism has identified nine establishments near the volcano that are currently closed in order to review their emergency and operations plans. This task is expected to be completed by Wednesday September 2. This entity will provide timely updates relating to this matter.

Local airports are open and operating normally, including Latacunga Airport.
